Audrey Su – President/Founder
Salt Lake Chapter – Violin Instructor
Aiming to bring the beauty of music and its many benefits to a broader population, I founded Title I Strings in the fall of 2021 and established the first free after-school violin program at Lincoln Elementary. Outside of music, I have interests in medicine, science, and Spanish.

Annie Lin – Co-President
Salt Lake Chapter – Violin Instructor
Annie Lin is a student at Skyline High School. She has been studying both violin and piano since the age of 3. With her many years of music experience, she loves the chance of being able to bring hands on music to Title 1 elementary schools. She has led and participated in many violin programs including at Sandy and Rolling Meadows Elementary. Outside of music, she has interests in law and loves working with kids.

Daniel Ha – Vice President
Salt Lake Chapter – Violin Instructor
Daniel Ha is a Junior at Skyline High School and has played the violin for 7 years and the drums for 3 years. He has been a part of many orchestras including the Skyline Philharmonic and Utah All-State orchestra. He will be leading the program at Lincoln Elementary and be Co-Vice President in the fall of 2024!

Marley Ham – Head of St. George Chapter

I am a Junior at Dixie High School and have played the violin for 8 years. I founded the St. George branch of Title 1 Strings freshmen year at Sandstone Elementary. My favorite part of teaching is seeing how much fun the kids have learning violin with their friends. Outside of violin, I play tennis, go to the gym, and do lots of school work.

Zoe Merkley – Program Leader

Zoe Merkley is a student at Brighton High School. She’s played the viola for twelve years and enjoys reading and listening to movie soundtracks. In the fall of 2024, she will be leading our newest violin program at Sandy Elementary!

Hyrum Gonzalez – Interpreter Outreach
Salt Lake Chapter – Violin Instructor & Interpreter
Hyrum is a senior at Skyline High School. Although he is a native Spanish speaker, he has been taught up to the IB level. In the past, he has translated for weddings with an officiant. He has been volunteering since Fall of 2023 as a translator for ESL kids. He is excited to be in charge of interpreter outreach to get other translators in the program!

Soonhwi Kwon – Founding Member
Salt Lake Chapter – Violin Instructor
I am a senior at Skyline High School, and I play both violin and piano. With my 10 years’ worth of experience in violin, I play show pieces, chamber music, participate in UYOE, and compete in competitions such as Salute to Youth. With my experience in violin, I teach kids at Lincoln Elementary. I joined Title I Strings in the winter of 2021 and am an instructor for the free violin program at Lincoln Elementary.

Jay Stembridge – Volunteer
Salt Lake Chapter – Violin/Cello Instructor
Jay Stembridge has lived in West Valley their entire life; yet, they found themselves choosing the twenty minute drive to Skyline High in Millcreek everyday. They began volunteering just recently with Title One Strings, and already, they’ve realized just how much they’ve missed they’re community. Title One Strings isn’t just giving kids so many opportunities to grow beyond the confides all West Valley kids have grown up with, but has also given Jay something to root themselves to their home again.

Isaiah Ahn – Volunteer

I am a senior at Skyline High School. I have been playing the violin for a modest 5 years, and have been a part of the Wasatch Mountain Camerata and the All-State Orchestra. Outside of violin, I love playing the drums and gaming. I look forward to working with you this coming fall!

My name is Anne Musser and I have played the viola for 7 years now. I also play the piano. I enjoy any genre of music and love new experiences. I have 4 younger siblings at home and two of them also play instruments.

Eddie Li – Volunteer

Hi! My name is Eddie and I am a senior at Skyline High School. I am a pianist and a self-educated violinist who has been playing the violin for approximately 5 years. Outside of music, I love hanging out with friends and helping out others. I joined Title I Strings in the fall of 2022. I am looking forward to working with you all!

Mira Oaks – Volunteer

I’m a junior at Skyline High, and I’ve played the violin for around 7 years now. I’ve played the piano for around 11, and I love orchestra! Outside of music I love reading and writing, as well as working with kids. I’m super excited to work with Title 1 Strings!!

Maylan Jessop – Volunteer

Maylan Jessop is a junior from Skyline High School who has intermediate to advanced experience in piano, cello, and violin. Alongside private lessons, she has been part of multiple upper level symphony orchestras. She also has other interests in debate and water polo.

I am a senior attending Skyline High School. I have been playing cello for 9 years, and have participated in orchestras such as the Skyline Philharmonic, Young Artist Chamber Players, and All-State Symphony.

Alice Leppert – Vice President

I am a senior in the IB program at Skyline High School. I’ve played the violin for 13 years and I also love the guitar, bass, and ukulele. In my free time, I love reading. I joined Title I Strings in the fall of 2021 and am an instructor for the free violin program at Lincoln Elementary.

My name is Keira McNamara. I’m a senior at Skyline High School and I’m in the IB program. I play viola and enjoy reading in my free time. I joined Title I Strings in the fall of 2021 and am an instructor for the free violin program at Lincoln Elementary.

Olivia Swindler – Head of Davis Chapter

I am a junior at Davis High School. I have played the violin for 12 years and the piano for 7 years. Throughout my musical education, I have enjoyed playing in different orchestras and ensembles such as the Utah Youth Junior Orchestra, the Wasatch Mountain Camerata, and the Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra. I also enjoy participating in competitions and summer music camps. I hope to be a violin performance major in college and have a career in music. Olivia ran our first violin program in Davis, at Layton Elementary.

Maia Nix

I am a senior in Skyline High School’s IB program. I have been playing the violin for 11 years but also enjoy singing, and am currently in a choir. Outside of music I love to hike, ski, and read. I will be joining Title I Strings in the fall of 2022.

Olivia Potts

Hey, I’m Olivia and I’m a senior at Skyline High School. I’ve been playing the violin for twelve years along with the viola for three years. I’ve worked in chamber groups, Young Artist Chamber Players with Jack Ashton, and the Youth Symphony. Outside of music, I’m in the International Baccalaureate Programme and enjoy reading. I’m excited to work with you, starting fall of 2022!

Hi! I’m Hazel and I’m a senior in Skyline High School’s IB program. I’ve played violin for nine years and I also work with kids at Lincoln Elementary through the Learning for Life program. I’m super excited to start working with Title I Strings this fall!

James Swindler
Davis Chapter – Violin/Cello Instructor
I’m a senior at Davis High School, and I’ve served as the principal cellist there for two years. I’ve been studying cello for ten years, under Richard Hoyt since early 2022. I will be performing a concerto for Davis High’s concerto night and the ASTA string competition this spring. I joined Layton Elementary’s Title 1 Strings program in the fall of 2022 and am very excited to educate the amazing kids of this area!

Nicholas Zhang
Clarinetist
Hi, I’m Nick! I’m a senior at Skyline High School. I specialize in woodwind instruments; as a clarinetist, I have performed as principal clarinetist of the Utah Youth Symphony, Utah Youth Philharmonic, Skyline Wind Ensemble, and also alongside members of the Utah Symphony. I also enjoy making arrangements and recordings of pieces from classical repertoire and video games. Outside of music, I enjoy writing code and hanging out with friends.
